Group Finance Manager, Hybrid, Greater Glasgow Area
Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a high-growth PE backed business to appoint a Group Finance Manager.
The Group Finance Manager will have ownership of the finance policies and procedures throughout the Group and play a key role in delivering improvements. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, the individual will have ownership of both subsidiary level accounts preparation and group level consolidation and reporting. Within accounts preparation, the role will also be responsible for the creation and delivery of a process for recent acquisitions and key to this will be the delivery of an ERP project within this business. Within the group function the role will be key to delivery of a new consolidation reporting system to replace the current excel process for use at month end and for financial reporting and analysis and the ongoing monthly consolidation and board reporting process, which includes interaction with the businesses across the Group to understand the commercial drivers of performance. The individual therefore should bring a strong accounting background and enjoy working in the detail whilst also having the drive ongoing improvements.
Duties include:
- Accounts preparation for the business recently acquired, including initial set up of the process
- Work closely with the finance business partner allocate to the new businesses to ensure they have the accounting information required for their role
- Ownership of the monthly board reporting process
- Monthly Group consolidation and close review, including delivery of a new online system for consolidation and financial planning
- Group overheads – ownership of monthly management accounts, reviewing actuals against forecast/budget
- Finance support for Group projects
- Enhancement of Group Finance processes
- Statutory accounts preparation for Group and subsidiary companies
- Management of the Group and subsidiary audits
- Consulting with external consultants to develop and deliver the Group tax strategy
- Ownership of ongoing tax compliance (Corporation tax, VAT returns and other tax matters)
- Management and development of two direct reports
Your Profile
The Group Finance Manager requires a professionally qualified accountant who possesses strong technical accounting skills, strong systems knowledge, and previous management experience. The individual will have operated within commercial organisations, with strong experience in accounts preparation and previous experience within a group reporting environment.
A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:
- High calibre graduate with a good track record of academic achievement
- Fully qualified accountant with appropriate post-qualification experience, preferably with a minimum of 4 years PQE and experience working in a similar role and environment
- Experience managing a group audit
- Experience dealing with corporation tax, VAT, and other tax matters
- Excellent technical knowledge including IFRS accounting standards and tax compliance
- Experience of implementing robust financial controls, processes, and procedures
- Excellent team management, mentoring and coaching skills
- System implementation and development experience
- Good IT skills, especially in relation to Microsoft applications and Excel
- Initiative-taker, willing to be involved in the detail, whilst having sufficient gravitas to support and challenge key stakeholders as required
- Confident communicator at every level, with strong inter-personal and influencing skills
- Organised and capable of developing in the current role
- Committed individual, displaying drive, ambition, and professionalism
On Offer:
- Salary £60,000-£65,000
- Bonus Up to 10%
