Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with an award-winning growth equity firm in order to appoint an Accountant. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of financial activities to ensure that the firm is compliant with its own financial processes and regulatory bodies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to gain exposure and further develop their career within a thriving Finance team. We are looking to speak with fully qualified or part-qualified accountants, with strong technical skills and experience working in a busy finance function.

We are particularly keen to engage with individuals who have demonstrated experience working within a small-mid-sized firm and are confident in preparing accounts for SME companies. The ideal candidate will be a supportive team player with the ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines and prioritise effectively.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintain financial records, systems and internal controls
  • Prepare quarterly management accounts and VAT returns
  • Prepare statutory year-end accounts
  • Liaise with auditors
  • Prepare the annual forecast
  • Tax analysis and compliance
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Quarterly and year-end reporting
  • Maintain portfolio company information
  • Regulatory compliance reporting
  • Other duties as required

The Individual:

  • Fully or Part-qualified Accountant (ACCA / ICAS / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Confident in preparing statutory accounts and management accounts for SME companies
  • Experience working in a busy finance department
  • Understanding of VAT and tax add-backs (desirable)
  • Knowledge of using Sage 50 (desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
  • Supportive team player
  • Possess a positive ‘can-do’ attitude
