Description

Rutherford Cross are delighted to be working in partnership with Culture Perth & Kinross to recruit a permanent Head of Finance and Resources. Culture Perth & Kinross is a dynamic Charitable Trust, with responsibility for the delivery and development of museum and library services in Perth & Kinross. The Trust manages Museums, Galleries, Libraries, Archive and Local History services previously operated directly by Perth & Kinross Council. The purpose of Culture Perth & Kinross is to advance the visual and applied arts, heritage and culture within the Perth and Kinross region. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive you will manage a small team with responsibility on all matters relating to financial, human resource and commercial aspects of the business. Your key duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure the preparation of monthly management and charity accounts and all financial statements/statutory accounts and statistical returns including VAT returns accurately and on time, providing a clear audit trail
  • Lead the annual budget process, together with the Chief Executive, with input from the Senior Management Team, and present to the Board of Trustees for approval
  • Provide updates on performance against budget throughout the year to Board of Trustees, Senior Management Team, and external funders
  • Liaise with payroll provider to ensure all payments are made to staff, any adjustments processed and PAYE processing in good time
  • Liaise with external HR advisors and support Line Managers to address any HR issues within the organisation
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, Corporation Tax returns and prepare Museums and Galleries Tax Relief calculations as required
  • Review the reconciliation of fundraising income and support the development of the fundraising system and improvements in processes
  • Manage key relationships with the organisation’s appointed banks, auditors, outsourced partners, pension, HR advisors and payroll providers and suppliers etc.
  • Manage procurement and commissioning processes as required, providing advice to colleagues on tendering process
  • Line management of the finance assistant, admin supervisor, donor relationship officer and commercial assistant, ensuring they are adequately supported and developed
  • Prepare regular financial reports for the SMT, CEO & Board of Trustees, as well as external funders
  • Lead the year-end audit process, as the first point of contact for the external auditors and respond to their requirements through planned and unplanned audit assignments
  • Co-ordinate the response to final audit reports and, where appropriate, ensure actions are completed
  • Management of cash flow and prepare monthly cash flow reports

 

To apply it is desirable that you will be a fully qualified accountant with experience of managing a finance function previously. Although applicants will be welcomed from all sector backgrounds experience of, or an understanding of charity accounts would be advantageous. This is a key role for the business and is part of the executive management team. Whereas most of the role content is finance-related, this post holder will enjoy the variety of leading on procurement, HR and commercial activities. This role will support hybrid working and also flexi-time which can result in additional time-off.

This post holder will get access to an excellent contributory pension (17.5% from the employer) and generous annual leave entitlement (30 days + 7 statutory). There is also a £4,000 relocation allowance for anyone moving for the role from over 100miles away. Salary: £47,920 + generous benefits.
