Recently, Rutherford Cross consultant, Fraser Burnett had the opportunity to help bring our inaugural Padel League to life and shares his reflections below.
After a month or so since the Padel League, it has been good to take a step back and reflect on how it all came together.
Over the course of the league, we had a great mix of people from across the Scottish market coming along each week, taking part, and building connections in a really natural way.
A big thank you again to BGF and Addleshaw Goddard for partnering on this. It would not have worked without that support, and it genuinely felt like a shared effort to create something worthwhile.
One of the biggest takeaways has been just how valuable it is to create space for people to connect outside of the usual work setting. In any line of work, relationships matter, but in Scotland, where the market is relatively small, they are absolutely vital. The strongest relationships tend to be the ones that go a bit deeper than just transactional conversations, and that is exactly what this helped encourage.
Padel turned out to be a great way of doing that. It kept things fun, gave everyone a shared focus, and made it easy to build rapport without it feeling forced.
We have had a lot of positive feedback since it finished, which has been great to hear. It shows there is a real appetite for things like this, opportunities to connect, build relationships, and try something new.
We are already looking ahead to running the next league later in the year. If you would be keen to get involved, feel free to reach out to Fraser – it would be great to have you involved.
