As excitement continues to build around Scotland’s long-awaited return to the World Cup; Rutherford Cross was proud to celebrate some footballing success of its own while supporting an incredible cause. Last Friday, Jonathan Donnelly hosted the Rutherford Cross Charity Football Tournament, bringing together a wide range of clients and partners for a day of competitive football, networking, and team-building. The tournament provided a fantastic opportunity for businesses to connect in a relaxed environment, while all working towards a shared goal: raising funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity.
A Fantastic Team Effort for an Important Cause
The event proved to be a resounding success, both on and off the pitch. Through generous contributions made via our JustGiving page and donations collected throughout the day, we are delighted to share that over £4,000 has been raised in support of the Beatson Cancer Charity.
Just as importantly, the tournament helped raise awareness of the outstanding work carried out by the organisation, which provides vital care and support to cancer patients and their families across Scotland.
Competitive Spirit and Strong Performances
The tournament saw an excellent turnout, with teams representing: Azets, Santander, Johnston Carmichael, RSM, Barclays, SEC, McQueens Dairies, TTC, City Facilities, John G Russell, Loch Lomond Group, CMS, and GAP.
Matches were played in great spirit throughout the day, striking the perfect balance between friendly competition and competitive intensity.
A special congratulations goes to Azets, who successfully defended their title from last year, overcoming Santander in a closely contested final to be crowned champions once again. Meanwhile, the Rutherford Cross team delivered an impressive performance, progressing to the semi-finals, a highly respectable achievement given the strength of the competition.

Looking Ahead
The passion, teamwork, and determination on display throughout the tournament reflect the very best of what football can bring, both on and off the pitch.
As Scotland prepares to take to the world stage once again, we hope they can channel some of the same energy and spirit shown last Friday and make it through the group stages.
