Job Title: Interim Financial Controller
Contract: 9–12 Months
Location: On-site, Linwood, Glasgow
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

About the Role

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be supporting our SME client to appoint Interim Financial Controller to lead the finance function for a 9-12‑month period. Based in Linwood on the outskirts of Glasgow, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and can operate confidently without a large finance team around them.

You’ll be the key financial lead on site, working closely with management to ensure accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and clear communication of financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control

• Preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
• Completion of balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining strong financial control
• Sales ledger reconciliation, including working with ID systems where required
• Monitoring and reporting of Actual vs Budget performance, highlighting variances and insights

Payroll & Cash Management

• Full responsibility for payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Cash flow management, including forecasting and monitoring daily/weekly cash requirements

Problem Solving & Independence

• Act as the on‑site accounting expert, with minimal internal support
• Confident in resolving accounting issues and implementing practical solutions
• Work independently, managing workload and priorities effectively

Communication & Business Engagement

• Present and explain financial information to non‑finance managers in a clear, accessible way
• Build strong relationships across the business to understand operations and support decision‑making
