Founded in Sheffield in 1912, Irwin Mitchell began as a small local firm. For over 100 years, it has represented clients in landmark cases and grown into a national full-service law firm. The firm now has more than 3,000 colleagues, working across 21 offices throughout the UK. Its team brings deep expertise in some of the most complex and specialised areas of law – from personal injury and medical negligence to commercial litigation, family law, employment, and property.
In 2023, Irwin Mitchell invested in Scottish-based law firm Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie(WJM) to offer more expertise and experience to its clients. WJM has been serving individuals and businesses as a Scottish, full-service law firm, for over 170 years. WJM recently joined forces with commercial law firm Davidson Chalmers Stewart (DCS), creating a combined team of more than 200 experts, with a presence in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Dunblane and Galashiels.
Due to exciting developments across Irwin Mitchell’s businesses in Scotland, with the investment in Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie and DCS, and plans to grow and develop the IM Scotland medical negligence and serious personal injury practice, the business is aiming for significant double-digit growth. As such, it is a crucial time to appoint the first Finance Director to work across all the Scottish businesses. This will be a highly visible appointment offering great exposure and will provide an opportunity for an ambitious professional to drive the financial and operational improvements needed to underpin the next phase of growth and profit delivery.
