September 24th marked the latest instalment of Rutherford Cross’ ongoing event series – ‘Planning Your Career Journey’.
The ‘Planning Your Career Journey’ event series is designed to provide insight and advice on navigating and shaping individual career paths. Primarily aimed at newly qualified individuals up to three years PQE, the event provides an opportunity to engage with a panel of accomplished speakers who have successfully progressed to senior leadership positions within the finance sector.
The exclusive evening was hosted at The Johnnie Walker Experience where canapés and cocktails were followed by a panel Q&A with three guest speakers from diverse career backgrounds.
Erin Ramsay (Head of The Johnnie Walker Experience), Douglas Meikle (Head of Finance at GrowUp Farms) and Jane Martin (Corporate Tax at Scottish Power), shared experiences, insights, learnings and advice which helped them progress through the early years of their careers.
The reflections shared by all three guests were informative and relatable. Erin Ramsay encouraged the audience to be curious and to proactively seize opportunities as they arise. Douglas Meikle delved into how he developed the skill of knowing when to seek more information from the numbers and Jane Martin highlighted the importance of recognising when to challenge and ask questions.
It was great to see everyone take the opportunity to make new professional connections and engage in networking. A sincere thanks are extended to our panel of guest speakers – Erin, Douglas and Jane, as well as to those who attended.
