Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a long-standing Glasgow based client who is looking to add a Management Accountant to its existing team. This role offers great benefits including study support, hybrid working and progression opportunities.

This role is best suited to a part-qualified accountant who is looking to complete their professional qualification. They will have experience in management accounts and strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

 

Job Purpose:
This role is commercially focused, providing business partner support to the wider business team and overseeing the preparation of management accounts and financial reporting. Your primary goal will be to analyse and provide insights into operational cost variances across a portfolio of suppliers.

 

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for key business areas
  • Ensure all month-end tasks are completed according to the agreed schedule and meet relevant deadlines
  • Collaborate with internal business functions and commercial colleagues to build variance analysis of delivery against budgets
  • Develop an understanding of the key operational drivers within key contracts
  • Play a key role in the annual budget process
  • Maintain control over balance sheet accounts
  • Generate weekly and monthly reporting, progressively enhancing capabilities in Power BI
  • Assist with ad-hoc/project work as required by the team

 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a finance environment is required
  • Ideally studying for a professional accountancy qualification (support provided)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Good IT skills, particularly in relevant systems
  • Experience in a high-volume transaction environment
  • Commitment to meeting multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive approach to process improvement within the team, including future opportunities
