Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly successful drinks business in order to appoint a Group Tax Accountant.
In recent years our client has grown significantly, both organically and through acquisition. This has led to the Group’s tax affairs having greater scale and complexity than in the past. There is now a requirement to upscale the Group’s compliance capability through the addition of a new Tax Accountant role within the Group Finance team. This is an extremely exciting time to be joining the business in a newly created role that will drive significant improvement in the business’ tax agenda by providing high-quality output and advice to both Finance and non-Finance team members across the business. The responsibilities of the Group Tax Accountant will be concentrated in tax, but there will be exposure to and involvement in the Group’s wider financial reporting process as well.
Role Responsibilities:
- Delivering end-to-end tax processes across the Group
- Maintaining the Group’s Tax Risk Register as a key tool to ensure the business’ tax process and control framework is fit for purpose
- Reviewing and improving Customs and VAT compliance
- Delivering the Group’s corporation tax processes
- Coordinating and monitoring subsidiary tax reporting and compliance
- Identifying and implementing process and control improvements including technology and data changes impacting tax processes
- Providing high-quality internal management information around tax
- Taking the lead on certain tax projects and improvement initiatives
- Assisting in preparation for HMRC Business Risk Review
- Developing Group policies and procedures on tax
The Individual:
- Fully qualified accountant (ICAS / ACCA / CTA or equivalent)
- In-house or practice tax experience
- Demonstrable experience of delivering tax process and control improvements in a commercial business environment
- Knowledge and experience of accounting for tax
- Ability to build working relationships with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders
- Strong working knowledge across multiple tax areas with experience in indirect taxes (desirable)
