Finance Analyst £34-36k Edinburgh (12 month FTC)
Rutherford Cross is delighted to support a leading retail bank recruit a Finance Analyst for a period of 12 months. The role sits within Commercial Finance and will be focused on MI, Planning & Analysis.
The roles will be a conduit between Finance and the wider business with a specific focus around unsecured lending and credit cards.
You must have some commercial finance acumen, strong analytical skills and have advanced level Excel capability. You will need a confident communication style and an ability to engage different stakeholders in the credit cards business area. Taking ownership for delivery and process improvements is a prerequisite to the role.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Support & Challenge – assist in providing financial support and challenge on current and future business areas, (including appropriate ledger forensic analysis to ensure accuracy, month end P&L reviews and updating of Management Committee papers for the relevant Product areas). Attend product meetings and deputise for your Manager.
- Planning – support the co-ordination and driving forward of the budgeting and forecast process for designated products with a view to understanding key issues and opportunities through analysis of trends and other MI available, to deliver realistic and balanced outputs. Populate templates within agreed timescales aiding the challenge of product and business assumptions. In addition support re-forecasting and communication of risks and opportunities and full year out turn projection processes
- Scenario planning / financial analysis – maintain models to assist the business in measuring impact of changes to the budgeted balance sheet and P&L positions. Working with your manager and other teams develop commercial insight to enhance robust scenario modelling and accurately prepare/ present scenario output (profit and loss and balance sheet where applicable) to aid the decision making process e.g. pricing and income levels
- Commercial Support - review and provide challenge to business cases: covering aspects including pricing and costs recharges.
- Relationship Management - act as a point of contact within finance for designated business areas. You will be responsible for ensuring that business developments are shared with appropriate finance colleagues, and are financially robust
