Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Risk Manager and people leader to join a global financial services organisation based in Glasgow city centre. Our client is a leading financial services organisation providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services globally. The company services corporations, governments and individuals across the world.

The role sits within the Operations division and is a first line role responsible for both financial and reputational well-being, and an essential partner contributing to the firm's growth. You will face off to all divisions within the business and support them with compliance and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

 

You will be responsible for managing 20 employees within the team on a day to day basis focusing on their professional development. The role supports senior management and its individual business units manage the Firm's Tax risk by owning and driving forward the Operational Tax Control framework. Maintaining and enhancing the internal operating processes, the division is crucial to safeguarding the Firm's franchise, proactively identifying and reporting on all in scope Tax risks. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to make a direct contribution to managing and mitigating operational tax risk across the Firm.

 

The key responsibilities of the successful applicant will include supervisory oversight and risk management of the below functions:

  • Reconciliation of complex firm tax reclaims across various global markets
  • Review of lodged reclaims to ensure in good order with tax authorities and analysis of market practice
  • Support of the risk framework, analysing Key Risk Indicators and impact of regulatory market updates
  • Coordination of Tax Authority audits and reconciliation of required information such as trade patterns, depot movements, etc
  • Control of client tax offerings and liaising with the relevant BU to ensure compliance
  • Supporting the ITU Enhancement strategy to improve systemic tax processing.
  • Control of processes outsourced to external vendor

Skills required:

  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to grasp detailed concepts quickly
  • Ability to provide clear supervisory oversight, and assume responsibility for escalation of risk items within the team
  • Ability to lead and develop a team of junior SMEs.

Experience working within financial services is essential.
