Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a high profile, Glasgow based business to appoint a Group Financial Accountant. The company is gearing up for a period of growth with significant capital investment expected over 2019 and 2020. The business requires a Group Financial Accountant to work with the Finance Manager to support FCs and FDs across the existing 13 businesses units. The post holder will be in daily communication with FCs, FDs and MDs of these businesses and must have the confidence and credibility to liaise effectively with these stakeholders. This role will involve international travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ownership of Group Management and ERP Cost Centres:
- Manage reporting of the Group management and ERP cost centres. This will involve preparing results, reporting results and reviewing and reporting actual positions on a monthly basis with the GFC, CFO and CEO. This involves managing a budgeted spend of £5m
- Preparation of related balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage the forecast and budget process for the above cost centres
Mid Month & Monthly Reporting:
- Fortnightly Reporting – Assist with the preparation of the Group Mid Month report, ensuring integrity of numbers and completeness of commentary
- Monthly Reporting – Assist with generation of accurate and complete commentaries for the monthly Group report and ensure integrity of numbers
- Assist with the production of the Group Monthly Reporting Pack for the Executive team, Board and other external stakeholders
- The above involves working directly with the GFC, CFO and the CEO
Involvement in the Group Cost Centre Forecast/ Budget Process:
- Assist with the co-ordination of the Group Forecast/ Budget Process, including preparation of forecast/budget instructions, creating reporting templates, production of the Group Powerpoint Pack and management of the overall timetable
Expenses and Corporate Cards:
- Administrator responsibility for Executive team’s corporate cards and expenses
Financial Analysis:
- Supporting the senior management team with ad hoc financial analysis
- Collation of financial reporting analysis requested from Group
Financial Audits & Peer Reviews:
- Carry out financial reviews of the individual businesses to ensure financial control is maintained
- Help develop action plans to address identified control issues and see these through to completion
Project Support:
- Assisting with one off queries received from operating companies including advice on the application of Accounting Standards and interpretation of group policies etc
- Provide financial support to Group Strategic initiatives (e.g. Growth projects and acquisitions)
- Support business integrations including training, process mapping, Cognos reporting, financial control improvement etc.
General Information:
- The role may involve global travel from time to time to individual businesses.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Core competencies/ Personal specification:
- Intelligent, with excellent analytical skills. Good business judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication skills are necessary both oral and written; proven ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
- Excellent command of English both written and verbal
- Capable of quickly establishing relationships and credibility with other professionals at all levels.
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment with proven ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to think on their own
Educational background/ Technical ability:
- A professional accountancy qualification is required (CA, CIMA, ACCA)
- Well-rounded technical financial skills.
Previous experience:
- Two years post qualified accounting and financial management and reporting experience, either within the accounting profession or in a large corporation (subsidiary or headquarters).
Team skills:
- Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Salary: £45,000-£50,000 plus competitive package
