The University of Glasgow is an industry leader ranked in the top 1% of universities globally. Established in 1451, Britain’s fourth oldest university currently employs over 6,000 individuals and is home to students from over 140 countries. Carrying a global reputation, it is a member of Britain’s leading Russell Group of universities, in addition to holding founding membership within Universitas 21’s worldwide association of pioneering higher education bodies. The university operates with a budget of over £500m and is currently in a period of rapid expansion, which includes ambitious plans for redeveloping its campus in the West End of Glasgow.
This newly-created role sits within the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, the largest of the University’s four colleges. The College consists of 4,000 undergraduate, 350 taught postgraduate, and 500 research postgraduate students, with staff numbering over 1,750. With three schools and seven research institutes, the College has a total expenditure budget of c£180m per annum. Commercial income for the College is c£25m per annum and covers myriad activities including the Small Animal Hospital at the Garscube estate
This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the transaction processing activities within a new ‘service centre of excellence’. The role holder will be able to take leadership in a number of areas, including an end to end review of existing processes, the design and deployment of new processes, and the change management of the transition to an expanded finance service centre team.
