Rutherford Cross is delighted to be supporting one of the largest life-sciences & pharmaceutical businesses in the world to recruit a Senior Manager for their Global Tax Compliance Team. The organisation is focused on scientific research and its mission statement is to make the world ‘healthier, cleaner and safer’.
Reporting to the Global Tax Compliance Director, this is an excellent opportunity to lead the tax compliance team activities and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of corporate tax compliance globally. This role is based in Paisley with flexible working available and has 4 direct reports.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
- Lead the timely and accurate completion of all corporate tax returns globally, outside of the US (EMEA, APAC, Latin America & Canada), distributing the work within the corporate tax team and working effectively with others within the company, together with managing external tax compliance partners
- Review and assist in the preparation of the tax provision and tax accounting notes in the statutory financial statements for top tier entities and provision of tax accounting journals
- Review and support the preparation of the return to provisions (RTP) for companies globally, working closely with the US tax team
- Review the foreign cash tax forecast
- Lead and support projects, working closely with the transfer pricing team, legal, treasury, finance and external advisers
- Oversee tax authority audits, together with ensuring adequate support and escalation of potential issues. Responsible for providing tax support either directly or through providing tax resource from tax team to partner with the finance teams during tax audits
- Assess the potential impact of new tax laws and regulations on the Company, identifying areas of tax risk and implementing solutions and controls to limit the tax exposure
- Manage the day-to-day relationships with the tax authorities and external tax advisors, as required
- Develop understanding of the Groups transfer pricing policies, commercial and supply chain operations
- Support on Tax Governance of both direct and indirect taxes
Candidate requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of complex corporate tax and tax concepts and how to apply this knowledge to situations
- Relevant previous experience in a managerial role in a large business or accounting firm
- Previous international tax experience is desirable, but not essential
- Strong leadership and people coaching skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be a qualified accountant, tax qualification desirable but not essential
