Description

The Company
Noble & Co is a Scottish-based, corporate advisory boutique that has the geographic reach and range of products of a major international firm, as well as offering its clients the personal and deep understanding of a boutique. It has a forty-three-year heritage of advising and financing Scottish businesses, both domestically and overseas, and across various sectors. Noble & Co is a unique company and is looking for people who align with how they do business.

An award-winning Scottish financial advisory firm, Noble & Co provides corporate finance advisory services across all industries. It has particular expertise in financial services, energy and power, food and drink, infrastructure, technology industries and sustainability.

Headquartered in Edinburgh, yet with a global outlook, it provides original and thoughtful strategic advisory services and effective practical support tailored to address the specific circumstances of each situation it encounters.

All advisers at Noble & Co are highly experienced in offering candid advice to senior executives and are flexible in their approach and thinking to achieve the best long-term outcomes possible, regardless of the circumstances.

The Role / Individual
Noble & Co help companies and their management team to fulfil their potential by assisting them in partnering with a range of investors, both domestic and international, delivering what are often complex solutions in challenging timescales. The unique role and the focused size of the firm mean that there will be an unusually high level of exposure to clients. In addition, the position will provide the right individual with the opportunity to grow their role and influence within the organisation.

The Associate is a critical member of the team in supporting the origination and execution of transactions in a broad range of industry sectors, including Energy & Power, Financial Services, Food & Drink, Natural Capital and Technology. The role includes work such as research for current and potential projects, preparing advice for business leaders and assisting in the production of investment documentation and financial modelling. The role requires the ability to understand and analyse significant volumes of information quickly, and to design creative solutions to often complex problems.

Typical mandates include:
  • Equity fundraisings for companies with differentiated propositions of scale
  • M&A sale mandates for companies and energy projects
  • Buy-side M&A advice
  • Fundraisings for unique, large-scale infrastructure opportunities
  • Capital appraisals
The candidate will also have a creative edge and be interested in producing eye-catching, incisive marketing materials for its clients’ propositions. This role will suit someone with an entrepreneurial instinct, an international outlook and the ability to think laterally.

Preferred Candidate Background
  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Confident, highly numerate and literate, analytical, demonstrate attention to detail, self-reliance, and have strong administration, time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to digest and process large amounts of information quickly
  • A good knowledge of financial markets is an asset in the role
  • A sense of humour, able to build trust, rapport and confidence, and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • An ability to work to deadlines and a knack with people are key
  • While not essential, helpful backgrounds include qualifications in accountancy, an MBA or CFA or transactional experience in related fields such as Private Equity

Remuneration
Attractive package commensurate with background and experience required for the role.
