Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a hugely successful Scottish manufacturing business in order to appoint a Management Accountant / Business Partner.
This is a newly created role and represents a unique opportunity for someone to develop their finance career in a thriving and exciting drinks industry, supplying the whisky industry in particular. The role holder will report to the Group Finance Director and will work closely with senior management across a number of the Group’s operating companies.
Ideally, this role would suit a fully qualified accountant or an individual currently working towards full qualification (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with a strong technical accounting background.
Role Responsibilities:
- Working as a key member of the Group Finance Team and management teams of the Group’s operating subsidiaries to produce weekly and monthly financial reporting as well as management accounts
- Providing in depth analysis of trends in production, stock and other operational variances and providing solutions to minimise costs or maximise efficiencies where possible, enabling informed decision making
- A close involvement with the senior management teams for each operating subsidiary, helping to provide financial and commercial advice to assist in the day-to-day operations of each business
- Helping to ensure a robust control environment in developing systems, controls and processes in line with the Group’s objectives of ensuring consistency across each operating company
- Assisting and supporting in the implementation of new IT systems, both in Finance and Operations more widely as part of the Group’s digitalisation strategy
- Developing technical awareness and expertise in all areas of financial control, including stock control and management of intra group trading
- Working closely with the Group Finance Director and Operating subsidiary management teams to develop short-term and long-term financial forecasts, alongside a Group responsibility for assisting in the provision of financial accounting including cash flow forecasts to facilitate Group funding obligations
- Assisting with year-end audit, statutory account preparation and involvement in both tax compliance activities and other tax related projects (R&D, capital allowances) for all Group companies
- Ad hoc project work as and when required, including assisting in the assessment of acquisition and other joint venture and investment opportunities being undertaken by the Group
The Individual:
- Part Qualified or Qualified accountant, ICAS, ACCA or CIMA
- Strong operational foundation in accounting
- Confident with strong interpersonal skills, especially when interfacing with senior management and internal / external stakeholders
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Energy, tenacity, and commitment
- Strong IT skills
