Scottish Golf is the governing body for the sport of golf in Scotland and represent golfers and golf clubs to champion the sport in our country and maintain Scotland’s position at the forefront of golf. Scottish Golf has 37 employees and an annual turnover of over £4m and are funded by affiliations from the member Golf Clubs across Scotland, grant funding from sportscotland and other golfing bodies, events income and through commercial revenue streams.
Scottish Golf was formed in 2015 following the amalgamation of Scottish Golf Union and Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association to create a new governing body for amateur golf in Scotland. Scottish Golf’s role is to lead our clubs, develop champions and provide the opportunity for everyone in Scotland to play golf for life. The key strategic goals include: Participation; Performance; Clubs; Effective Organisation; Workforce and Affinity. With 587 affiliated golf clubs across the country they represent a total membership of over 200,000 golf club members. Golf contributes £1.17bn to the Scottish economy supporting an estimated 20,000 jobs across the industry.
Based at the home of golf in St Andrews, Scottish Golf’s responsibilities span across most aspects of the game in Scotland, from the original core business of staging national amateur championships and managing Scotland’s national teams, expanding to encouraging more youngsters and adults to play golf, providing support services to member clubs and lobbying government to protect the interests of the game.
St Andrews is one of Europe’s finest towns and the world’s home of golf, St Andrews is a place of history, learning and culture, a wonderful coastal resort that attracts visitors from all over the world. With a population of over 16,000 St Andrews is 50 miles from the centre of Edinburgh and 14 miles from Dundee.
On the back of the creation of Scottish Golf in 2015 a new post of Head of Finance & IT has arisen for an ambitious individual to join the business at Scottish Golf’s Head Office based at The Dukes Course in St Andrews. Reporting to the Corporate Services Directorate, the post holder will have day to day responsibility for Finance and IT across the organisation.
