Description

Livingston James has been retained to work with this leading multinational business on a newly created role of Treasury Manager.  The role has been created in response to a new Holding Companies structure which has recently been implemented in the centralised European finance function and will report to the European Treasury Manager who in turn reports to the Chief Financial Officer for Europe.  The finance team consists of over 40 professionals who provide services including financial and management accounting, treasury, tax and operational finance.

The role requires a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CA) and/or treasurer (AMCT) with substantial treasury experience gained in a large corporate organisation, where managing multi-currency banking structures and short term investments is a key component.  Excellent cash management, forecast modelling and reporting writing skills are required, in addition to well-honed problem solving and project management abilities.  The role offers the opportunity to work in a multi-national business and furthermore it is expected that this role will become the deputy for the European Treasury Manager in time.

Key duties & responsibilities as follows:

Treasury management and capital management:

  • Day to day liquidity of company entities
  • Develop instruments for medium to longer term investment depending on liquidity requirements
  • Managing the capital injection and dividend flows
  • Managing inter-company borrowing and lending
  • Capital planning for all company entities as required
  • Planning and management of investment income for holding companies
  • Ensure appropriate diversification of cash
  • Management of FX exposures
  • Ensuring appropriate processes and communication with accounting area to meet accounting requirements

Driving Global Treasury Initiatives:

  • Help drive forward the implementation of a new Treasury Management System (TMS) including:
    • Understanding European requirements
    • Partnering with local teams and US treasury team on implementation and testing of new system
  • Lead the ongoing utilisation and administration of the TMS within Europe:
    • Super-user for Europe working with Treasury teams to improve utilisation and aid training
    • Manage the local system administration of the TMS
  • Driving forward adherence to Global Treasury guidelines
  • Global reporting responsibilities as required including – Global bank exposure analysis and bank charges

General Requirements:

  • Managing workload of Treasury specialist whilst liaising with the broader team to ensure coverage of all key tasks
  • Work with wider finance team, including specialist areas, as required e.g. Operational Finance, Tax to help ensure the department meets overall finance objectives and is fully compliant

Experience/Knowledge:

The successful candidate should have the following experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CA) and/or qualified/part qualified treasurer (AMCT/Cert ITM) with substantial experience gained in a large international business environment
  • Experience of managing multi-currency banking structures and short term investments
  • Cash forecast modelling experience in a complex environment
  • Good report writing skills with ability to create and maintain an appropriate suite of treasury reports to meet the organisation’s needs
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures to ensure a strong financial control environment is maintained and that risks such as counterparty and foreign currency risks are mitigated
  • Proven experience of taking theoretical concepts and then implementing practical business solutions either as an individual or as an effective collaborator within an organisation
  • Strong excel spreadsheet skills and experience of working with or in implementing Treasury Management systems in a multicurrency environment
  • Experience of working with international bank payment platforms and driving down bank charges would be advantageou

  • Good team player who is willing to flexible in their role ad workload to help the overall team meet objectives
