Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a highly successful manufacturing company based in the Central Belt of Scotland. Reporting directly to the MD, the Site Financial Controller sits on the Leadership Team and plays a key role in the strategic direction of the business. This is a critical role incorporating a blend of financial control, stakeholder management and staff supervision, and is highly visible across the wider business.

This focus of this role is effective influencing and communication – the leadership team is well established and therefore this position requires a charismatic individual who builds rapport and credibility easily. This is a change orientated business but also one underpinned by data – the ability to present complex financial information in a straightforward and effective manner is essential. An understanding of how a business operates and demonstrable commercial acumen are also required, this role is not confined to finance and is very much a business role.

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

  • Qualified Accountant with post qualifying experience gained within a manufacturing or related environment
  • Ability to evaluate the financial implications of strategic changes affecting the business and translate these into detailed change requirements which deliver results
  • Experience of operating in an environment of continuous improvement, supporting business leaders to identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and generate revenue
  • Confident communicator at every level, with strong inter-personal skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of developing in the current role over time
  • Commercial thinking, drive, ambition, and professionalism
  • Ability to delegate effectively and manage the delivery of multiple projects

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Business and strategy planning at Leadership level
  • Budget setting and forecasting in conjunction with the MD
  • Weekly and monthly financial reporting, encouraging a culture of ownership across the finance team and wider business
  • Working closely with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring a culture of strong financial awareness if created and maintained
  • Working capital management and optimisation
  • Leading and developing the finance team

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will hold a professional accountancy qualification, have worked in a commercial environment, and be eager to progress your career in a fast moving and constantly evolving working environment.
