Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a highly successful manufacturing company based in the Central Belt of Scotland. Reporting directly to the MD, the Site Financial Controller sits on the Leadership Team and plays a key role in the strategic direction of the business. This is a critical role incorporating a blend of financial control, stakeholder management and staff supervision, and is highly visible across the wider business.
This focus of this role is effective influencing and communication – the leadership team is well established and therefore this position requires a charismatic individual who builds rapport and credibility easily. This is a change orientated business but also one underpinned by data – the ability to present complex financial information in a straightforward and effective manner is essential. An understanding of how a business operates and demonstrable commercial acumen are also required, this role is not confined to finance and is very much a business role.
A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:
- Qualified Accountant with post qualifying experience gained within a manufacturing or related environment
- Ability to evaluate the financial implications of strategic changes affecting the business and translate these into detailed change requirements which deliver results
- Experience of operating in an environment of continuous improvement, supporting business leaders to identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and generate revenue
- Confident communicator at every level, with strong inter-personal skills
- Self-motivated and capable of developing in the current role over time
- Commercial thinking, drive, ambition, and professionalism
- Ability to delegate effectively and manage the delivery of multiple projects
Key areas of focus will include:
- Business and strategy planning at Leadership level
- Budget setting and forecasting in conjunction with the MD
- Weekly and monthly financial reporting, encouraging a culture of ownership across the finance team and wider business
- Working closely with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring a culture of strong financial awareness if created and maintained
- Working capital management and optimisation
- Leading and developing the finance team
