Description

Our client is based in central Glasgow and has grown significantly over the last number of years.  As a direct consequence of continuing high business activity, they are recruiting a Group Financial Controller to join the existing Finance team.

Reporting into the Group Finance Director, the role will oversee the day to day activities of the Group Finance team, ensuring the finance function is organised and efficient, especially in relation to accurate and timely information for Senior Management team.

Job Description

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the position incorporates accounting, reporting, staff supervision and stakeholder management requiring interaction with the Senior Management team, Group Finance team, Auditors and external advisors.

Duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Management of the Group Finance function
  • Maintenance of financial records and accounting processes
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Preparation of quarterly board information
  • Timely production of statutory accounts for Group and subsidiaries
  • Organising and running audits, liaising with auditors, tax advisors and banks
  • Cash management and treasury duties
  • Preparation of VAT returns and payroll processes
  • Preparation of Corporation Tax information for tax advisors
  • Management of finance systems
  • Implementation and maintenance of systems and internal controls
  • Overseeing all tax and regulatory issues


The Candidate

The Group Financial Controller position requires a high calibre individual who has strong interpersonal skills, is detail orientated and possesses excellent technical knowledge.

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows: 

  • Degree educated with a track record of high academic achievement
  • CA qualified with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE
  • Prior experience in industry, ideally in a similar or related sector
  • Excellent technical foundation in accounting and tax regulations
  • Exemplary report writing skills
  • Confidence and strong interpersonal skills, especially when interfacing with senior management
  • and internal/external stakeholders
  • Proven track record of managing and developing people
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines and prioritise effectively
  • Self-motivated and capable of developing the current role over time
  • Energy, drive, tenacity, professionalism and commitment
  • Excellent IT skills with an advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting packages, preferably Sage
  • Flexible approach to working hours in line with the needs of the business

Salary Details: £50,000 - £60,000 + bonus/pension/healthcare
