Reports to Financial Reporting Manager
Rutherford Cross is working with a well-respected Public Sector Organisation to recruit a Financial Accountant. Based in Glasgow with locations internationally, the company are offering the opportunity to gain great exposure with excellent progression pathways for the future. On offer is a salary of up to £41k (dependent on experience), with hybrid working and an exceptional holiday allowance of 41 days and pension package.
The role of Financial Accountant will primarily be focused on assisting the Financial Reporting Manager in delivering financial compliance. The post holder will be responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and co-ordination of the year end audit for the organisation’s subsidiary companies.
Ideally, we are looking to speak with industry newly or recently qualified accountants (CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) seeking to further progress their career. The role requires an individual with experience of working with financial accounting processes in a complex financial environment.
Some key duties include:
- Providing high quality financial accounting specialist support across the Group, with particular emphasis on the Group’s subsidiary entities
- Being the main point of contact for external audit matters relating to the subsidiary companies
- Responsible for the preparation of the annual financial statements for the Group’s subsidiary entities
- Responsible for preparing the Intercompany schedule that feed into the Consolidated financial statements
- Responsible for ensuring completion of the audit in accordance with the agreed timetable seeking support from the Financial Reporting Manager as required
- Providing high level support to the Financial Reporting manager to prepare in advance of year end and throughout year end to ensure a smooth audit process
- Intercompany month end procedures and invoicing
- Act as the finance lead on all matters relating to the Group’s subsidiary entities in UK
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner for review by the Financial Reporting Manager
The Ideal Candidate:
- Professionally qualified (CA/ACCA.CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong up to date knowledge of the technical accounting environment in the UK
- Thorough knowledge of best practice within the Financial Reporting area
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience of producing statutory accounts and associated external returns
- Experience of documenting procedures and financial controls
- Experience of working to tight deadlines
- Experience of building strong and effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation
