Description

Rutherford Cross is working with a Glasgow based SME who are keen to appoint a newly created role of Finance Manager.  The business have recently gone through a period of exciting change and are keen to appoint a candidate who can work closely with the management team, providing accurate management information to guide performance and also focus on commercial elements including pricing and contract management. This newly created position will allow the successful candidate to really shape the role and will be a blend of developing a strong finance function as well as focusing on more commercial activities and business partnering. A summary of some of the key duties are below:

Planning and Reporting:

  • Timely delivery of high-quality management accounts and information, providing actionable insight and analysis, including KPIs and identifying trends
  • Formulate and submit group management information and returns on a timely basis
  • Co-ordinate the bi-annual audit process with the external auditors, and where required, internal audit processes
  • Formulate and lead an annual budgeting process to guide performance and actions
  • Review performance and identify improvement opportunities

Commercial Finance:

  • Partner closely with the management team and customer-facing colleagues to ensure robust financial and commercial principles are embedded into the project lifecycle in order to manage and maximise margins
  • Ensure regular and high-quality dialogue and co-ordination between the Commercial Finance and Sales teams, with engagement on new installations, pricing and contractual decision making
  • Lead regular reviews of project and maintenance margins on a job-by-job basis to ensure performance in line with or exceeding expectation and all variations are billed as appropriate

Other Finance Activities:

  • Manage a team of 3-4 finance colleagues and ensure regular reviews are in place with appropriate personal development plans
  • Manage the cashflow of the business, ensure optimum terms are agreed with customers to balance project cashflow, and suppliers are paid on time within terms
  • Ensure delivery of outsourced payroll activities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment tax legislation, including accurate deductions and payments to HMRC are made on time
  • Manage appropriate controls and segregation of duties within the finance function
  • Ensure systems are fit for purpose

For this role the company will consider either a fully qualified accountant – CIMA/CA/ACCA or a Qualified by experience accountant. It is important the candidate can manage a finance function ensuring robust governance and controls are in place and also has a strong commercial background with the ability to business partner and support with commercial activities.

On offer is a competitive salary in the region of £60-70,000 and a wider benefits package.
