Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be supporting a reputable Scottish charity to recruit a Finance Assistant. The post-holder will provide support to the Head of Finance in relation to all financial matters. Key responsibilities include purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliation, reporting and banking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase ledger – processing all purchase orders, invoices and expense claims ensuring that they are approved, coded accurately and uploaded to the system correctly
  • Reconciling supplier statements to purchase ledger accounts
  • Sales ledger – creating, coding and issuing sales invoices
  • Processing all payments due to creditors on a weekly basis
  • Investigating and resolving queries on Sales and Purchase Ledger as required
  • Assessing the Purchase and Sales Ledger monthly
  • Producing the suggested payment report of the finance and business operations manager before processing payments
  • Reconciling payment cards including monthly statements and receipts with card holders for the relevant period
  • Producing the suggested payment report of the finance and business operations manager before processing payments
  • Preparing reconciliation reports for all bank and cash accounts monthly for review and authorisation by the Head of Finance
  • Ad hoc assistance with the preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts, the annual accounts and with the preparation and monitoring of the annual budgets

The Candidate:

  • Experience of working in a similar role or a university degree in Accountancy
  • Experience of XERO or other similar software
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders to maintain effective working relationships
  • Great attention to detail
  • Strong team player, but also able to work on their own initiative
  • Ability to demonstrate a methodical, organised, and flexible approach to work
