Description

Rutherford Cross has been retained by a high performing property group, to identify a high calibre qualified Accountant to undertake a key role within the business. This is an exceptional opportunity to work within a growing Real Estate business and it will provide an accelerated career path within investment management. Working within a dynamic and focused team you will have the opportunity to get far closer to the deals and assets than within a traditional PE firm and you will have the ability to shape the role over time.

The role will facilitate exposure to all aspects of a high performing business and therefore first class numerical skills, analytical capability, and commercial acumen are essential. As the group is about to undertake a period of significant growth, the role requires an individual who is flexible, robust, and able to work on a variety of projects.

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have:

  • A recognised accounting qualification with a minimum of 2-years PQE
  • Experience within a blue-chip firm (accounting, fund/asset management, or banking)
  • Robust technical and analytical skill set, and experience of financial modelling
  • Previous experience of preparing management and statutory accounts
  • Demonstrable experience of writing well-argued and concise reports
  • An enthusiastic self-starter, capable of taking the initiative
  • An ability to think strategically, creatively and critically
  • Commercial thinking, drive, ambition, and professionalism
  • Conscientious and committed to excellent delivery with a strong eye for detail as well as vision and ability to see the end goal
  • Credibility to engage and influence at all levels with a professional manner and the ability to form good working relationships

The role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance who is now looking for a new challenge within a private equity environment and opportunity to develop in an entrepreneurial business with a genuine desire for growth. You are likely to be in an accounting role and keen to develop commercially. You will be passionate about investment, have an interest in real estate, with an inquisitive mind, commercial instinct and a keen interest in wider business and commerce.

As well as supporting the Leadership Team in the analysis and execution of new acquisitions the role will cover analysis of the existing portfolio performance and asset management initiatives, corporate financial forecasting, and preparation of management and statutory accounts. Over time it is anticipated that the successful candidate would become involved in securing equity for the various vehicles/projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with screening, analysis and execution of new investments:
    • Screening of potential deals and maintenance of an introductions register
    • Financial modelling of potential investments and developments
    • Market research
    • Production of Investment Papers
    • Assist with instruction and management of due diligence teams
    • Assist with contract negotiations
    • Assist with negotiation of JV and Property Management Agreements
  • Assist with performance analysis of existing investments and asset management and disposal strategy:
    • Coordinate updates of business plans
    • Financial analysis of the portfolio performance
    • Analysis of key asset management initiatives against business plans
    • Financial analysis of asset disposals
    • Assist with monitoring of JV partner performance and ensure paperwork trails are in place as required
  • Assist with bank reporting and the negotiation of new debt agreements
  • Preparation of financial plans, forecasts, budgets, and analysis for management and the board
  • Production of monthly management accounts including variance analysis
  • Development of financial analysis capability for the business
  • Monthly reconciliation of the P&L and balance sheet
  • Responsible for statutory accounts and compliance with relevant Accounting Standards
  • Ensure appropriate system and internal controls are implemented and maintained

You will be given a high degree of responsibility from an early stage and therefore the role requires outstanding organisational, numerical and written skills with a strong attention to detail. As part of the role the successful candidate will be expected to travel within the UK as required.
