Rutherford Cross is pleased to be partnered with a leading Scottish business to appoint an Accounting Manager. This opportunity represents a great opportunity for a qualified accountant with well developed leadership, technical and commercial skills to join a high-calibre finance team in a broad and people-focused role. This position is based in Glasgow City Centre and offers hybrid working, great employee benefits and a salary of £50,000 - £60,000.
Given the scale of the business, there is opportunity further down the line to move into a bigger role within the business, provided the successful individual makes the required impact once in post. A huge amount of this role is focused on leadership of the team and the relationships with external stakeholders. Whilst technical accounting proficiency is required for the role, it is not a technically challenging accounting post. It is however preferred that someone comes in with a track record of process improvement.
Ideally, looking to engage with qualified accountants who have a track record in staff management and possess excellent commercial and interpersonal skills. Reporting to the Divisional Financial Controller, the key responsibilities of the role are listed below.
- Assist with the control of the Balance Sheet, ensuring integrity and that the reconciliation process is managed effectively
- Lead and develop a team of 3 part-qualified accountants, ensuring professional development and consistent high-level review of work
- Business partner with non-finance stakeholders
- Focus on process improvement
- Assist with the completion of the periodic balance sheet reconciliation process for the Financial Planning Manager’s 4 weekly reviews with the ASR Director of Finance
- Ensure application of internal control, in particular in relation to Balance Control Accounts
- Daily reconciliation of the Balance Control Accounts
- Application of effective internal control
- Assist the Financial Planning Manager with any ad hoc requests or project work
