Description

Rutherford Cross have been retained by a high profile Scottish manufacturing company to identify a high calibre qualified Accountant to undertake a key senior finance role within the business. The Financial Controller vacancy is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a company on a significant growth trajectory that operates in global markets.

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, this role provides the successful candidate close working relationships with senior stakeholders as part of the Senior Management team in the UK business. This will be varied and fast moving role that requires an individual with a commercial mind-set and the capacity to grow with the role as the business evolves.

In addition to having responsibility for the financial control of the UK business including management of the finance team, the Financial Controller will also have a broad commercial remit. As the business transforms there will be opportunities to play a key role in a number of projects including acquisitions, disposals, and overseeing significant capital expenditure.

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

  • High academic achievement
  • ACA/CA qualified Accountant
  • Ideally having gained post qualification experience in industry
  • Confident communicator with strong inter-personal skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of developing in the current role over time
  • Commercial thinking, drive, ambition, and professionalism
  • Flexible and able to work on a variety of ad hoc projects
  • Ability to explain financial metrics/concepts to other functional managers

Key areas of focus on will include:

  • Full responsibility for month-end and the production of the monthly management accounts pack
  • Preparing weekly cash flow forecast and the UK annual budget
  • Management of all the statutory accounting of all UK companies within the group including the group consolidation
  • Primary contact for the annual audit and tax compliance processes
  • Lead on all financial accounting and reporting duties for the UK business
  • Utilising the Group’s ERP system to analyse financial performance
  • Bringing a continuous improvement approach to all areas of the finance function
  • Key role in acquisitions and business transformation projects

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will be degree qualified, hold a professional accountancy qualification, and possess the drive and ability to play a key role in a company with ambitions to be number one in its market.
