Rutherford Cross launches search on behalf of Anderson Anderson Brown

Formed in 1990, Anderson Anderson & Brown LLP (AAB) is one of the largest independent firms of Chartered Accountants in the UK, with a staff complement comprising 21 partners, 20 Directors and nearing 330 staff.  These numbers have recently increased following the successful merge with Glasgow based CA firm Hardie Caldwell, which was announced at the end of May 2021.  Hardie Caldwell has been rebranded to AAB.

The two practices, which have worked together over three decades, reported a combined turnover last year of £30 million and hope to achieve the new target of £50 million by 2025.

As a member of HCWA, an association of independent accountancy practices throughout the UK and Crowe Horwath International the top 10 global accounting network, AAB can provide a full range of accountancy and business advisory services to clients with operations across the globe.

With an emphasis on teamwork, the partners and staff are dedicated to forming constructive, long term, professional relationships with clients. Allied with an extensive range of skills and knowledge, a progressive approach and innovative thinking, the firm has grown in reputation and size and now competes comfortably with Big 4 and national firms.

AAB has been awarded Firm of the Year at The Scottish Accountancy Awards on a number of occasions, in addition to its inclusion in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For. It also attained Investors in People Platinum accreditation in 2017.  AAB practises open and direct communication with its employees, with the belief that skills and abilities are enhanced by good working relationships, which, in turn, contribute to the foundation of a strong and healthy workplace. The firm are committed to providing good working conditions, pay, benefits, and personal growth and development opportunities.

The firm values an open culture where people are prepared to give and receive constructive feedback, and everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas that improve the business.  AAB strives for everyone to uphold a culture of professionalism, excellence and focus on delivery.

The R&D Tax team, part of the Corporate Tax department at AAB, is a four-person strong team of tax / accounting specialists based in the Aberdeen office.  The team provide R&D tax advice and Patent Box advice to a wide range of businesses with ongoing projects that qualify for tax relief. Sector focusses are energy, technology, construction, and food & drink.

The team, led by Derek Gemmell, is experiencing consistent growth and demand for services in Aberdeen, London and the Central Belt of Scotland.  There is therefore a desire to recruit a Senior Manager, ideally in the Central Belt, who can work with the team in Aberdeen, to drive the future growth of the department.
