Partnering with Energy Assets Group, we are pleased to be working on a rare opportunity for a Head of Tax, to be based in Livingston. This is a newly created position due to ongoing growth.

About Energy Assets:

From an original concept fifteen years ago to develop an industrial and commercial (“I&C”) gas metering business, Energy Assets has expanded into the electric meter and data sector, multi-utility infrastructure provision and latterly into the ownership and operation of independent gas, electric and fibre networks.

This expansion into network ownership has resulted in Energy Assets Group (EAG) becoming the sole UK vertically integrated business addressing the gas, electric, fibre and water utilities market across energy suppliers, developers, intermediaries and end user customers. In addition, the company helps private and public sectors to improve their energy efficiency through ground-breaking technologies, data analytics and innovative customer-focused processes.

Headquartered in Livingston, 20 miles south-west of Edinburgh and with offices across the UK, Energy Assets is a licensed gas and electric network operator, accredited meter asset manager, meter operator and data collector/aggregator, working alongside major energy suppliers and partnering with some of the country’s biggest brands and best-known public sector organisations. The company provides advanced metering services, automated data collection, analytics and utility network services to help optimise gas, water and electricity consumption.

Since formation in 2005, Energy Assets has undergone a number of acquisitions and changes of ownership with the clear focus over the last few years on value creation and the long-term securitisation of recurring income generated from the ownership of meter, data and utility assets. This value creation has been achieved as a result of organic growth through service delivery excellence and strategic acquisition providing additional routes to market. Energy Assets has grown to a substantial company employing c800 staff and has 7 offices across the UK covering locations from Scotland down to Cardiff.

Most recently in April 2020, a consortium of investors led by Asterion Industrial Partners, a Spanish based infrastructure investment fund, acquired the business in a deal worth c£600m. Asterion partnered with EDF Invest, an investment arm of Electricite de France, and the Swiss pension manager Swiss Life.

This investment positions Energy Assets well in a growing and evolving gas and electricity market in the UK and, potentially, overseas. Alongside organic growth within the core I&C gas metering space, Energy Assets has ambitious plans to grow the electric and gas network business, capitalising on opportunities within the electricity, data management and, potentially, hydrogen markets.
