Rutherford Cross was delighted to host a hugely successful football charity event on Friday, raising money and awareness in aid of Scottish Association for Mental Health. So far the evening has generated over £1000 with more contributions promised over the next few days.
Each year the charity provides over a million hours of support to people living with poor mental health. Every week, SAMH works with around 4,000 individuals in over 60 services across Scotland and every day they campaign for better mental health for the people of Scotland. SAMH aims to reduce the stigma attached to mental ill health, promote good mental health and provide invaluable support to those in need.
The event gave Glasgow based businesses the opportunity to compete against one another in the name of a great cause. The final was contested by AJ Gallagher and Clydesdale Bank with the former running out 3-1 winners.

Rutherford Cross would like to thank all the teams that took part in the event and helped make it so enjoyable. We would also like to thank the staff at Powerleague, Townhead for their hospitality. All participants had a great time both on the field and in the bar afterwards. We look forward to hosting next year’s event and hopefully our boys might enjoy more success. The Rutherford Cross team ended up propping up Group B with just 3 points, so training for next year might need to start soon.
